The Process is Simple
Step 1
Sign Up
To join Aetium, you must be taking climate action. You must either be reducing CO2 emissions, or supporting those who do. People who own Solar, drive an EV, or own and protect Australian Forests can join - because their investments in CO2 reductions are significant and measurable.
After verifying your identity, we give you access to our online systems so that you can register your CO2-reducing projects. Aetium will protect your privacy, and your information will remain confidential and secure. Your name and address will not be displayed, and your geolocation will be concealed.
Step 2
Calculate
Simply enter your Solar, EV or Forestry details into the Aetium portal and our online systems will do the rest. It's free to register, requires no confidential information and there is no obligation. Our advanced systems will calculate your CO2 reduction, and you will be able to quantify the difference you are making.
CO2 calculations are made in tonnes of CO2 per year, a globally recognised method. All certifications are based on the "AET Standard" which confirms that projects are genuine, accurately calculated, permanent for the period assessed, and not claimed as a carbon credit by another entity.
Step 3
Validate
Exactly 12 months after registration, we use multiple data sources, digital images and artificial intelligence to certify your project's CO2 reduction. You are also required to confirm certain information.
Our technology validates that your Solar, EV or Forest has reduced CO2 - and exactly how much. Certified reductions are converted into Aetium TCUs, which can be sold or retired. You are not required to give us access to your online systems, your information is secure and we do all the information tracking, document the process, and validate the results.
Step 4
Carbon Unit
An Aetium TCU is a "Tonne CO2 Unit" which is an Aetium certified digital instrument that represents a genuine reduction of CO2 (measured in tonnes of CO2). Aetium TCUs accurately represent genuine CO2 reductions - which can be proven - and Aetium TCUs can be used for ESG reporting purposes [Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions calculations].
Note: the trading of "tonnes of CO2" is an internationally recognised process that allows the CO2 value to be on-sold or retired.
Step 5
Exchange
Aetium TCUs can be sold or retired via the Aetium Exchange - at a click of a button you can sell your CO2 reductions. The Aetium Exchange serves as a marketplace where BUYERS - individuals and businesses - can purchase verified CO2 reductions to offset emissions they cannot reduce themselves. Every transaction is recorded on a blockchain ledger, ensuring transparency, preventing double counting, and maintaining visibility of all TCUs, whether active or retired.
The Aetium Exchange officially launches on 1 June 2025.
Step 6
Retire
You can choose to retire CO2 reductions through the Aetium Exchange, permanently demonstrating your commitment to lowering emissions. Once retired, Aetium TCUs are recorded in the "Aetium Registry", a transparent and immutable blockchain ledger that ensures your contribution is publicly recognised. Retired TCUs can no longer be traded, their value is set to zero, and they are permanently removed from circulation - this confirms to the world that you have funded the CO2 reductions.
